How Do I Prepare for Waxing?
Waxing is a fairly simple treatment that requires little preparation. First and foremost, it’s important to avoid shaving for at least two weeks prior to your waxing session. The hair must be about one-quarter inch long to be removed with the waxing technique. Additionally, we recommend that patients avoid any exfoliating treatments in the days leading up to their treatment, as it can make the skin sensitive and irritable. Finally, we ask that patients do not apply any lotions or moisturizers on the day of their treatment, as it can reduce the efficacy of waxing.
What is the Waxing Treatment Like?
Your waxing treatment will begin with a cleansing of the treatment area. Then, we’ll apply a warm, liquid wax to the desired areas. Within a few minutes, this wax will cool and harden, securing the hair follicles within the wax. Then, we’ll remove the wax from the skin, which will pull all of the secured hair follicles with it. This sensation can be uncomfortable for some, but it is over within a few minutes. Many patients find that the waxing treatment becomes less painful with each treatment session.
What Results Can I Expect from Waxing?
While you may experience some sensitivity in the skin following your waxing session, you will notice smooth, hairless skin immediately. The results from waxing will last about three to six weeks, although the exact duration of your results will depend on the speed at which your hair grows. For this reason, many patients choose to receive monthly waxing treatments in order to maintain their results.
